A road in Carlisle has been closed after it was discovered to be sinking.
Victoria Road, between Banks Lane and Botcherby Avenue, has been shut by Cumberland Council.
The council highways team will conduct an investigation due to the sunken condition of the carriageway, making the road closure necessary.
The work is scheduled to start today, Thursday January 11, until tomorrow, Friday January 12, with a diversion route in place.
Work will take place from around 8am to 4pm each day.
If residents or businesses require access to their property, they are asked to discuss it with the traffic marshal who will be on site during the work. People are advised there may be some delays accessing properties.
The council is reminding the community that businesses within the area remain open and fully operational.
Access will be maintained for emergency services during the work.
