Kendal Town’s assistant manager Gavin Clark says the team have 14 Cup finals between now and the end of the season.
The Mintcakes have slipped to seventh in the NW Counties Premier Division table, some eight points off the play offs.
But Clark insists the team are still in contention although they miss out on a follow-up game as tonight’s trip to third in the table Wythenshawe is off because of a waterlogged pitch.
“Things are going to turn. We put in an improved performance against the leaders Wythenshawe Town on Saturday despite the 4-2 scoreline against us.
“We have been on this poor run and individual errors and some bad luck have cost us. We can’t fault the lads for the effort they put in.
“The injury list is starting to look better, too. We had nine players missing last week and two of them came back at the week-end.
“If we can continue to produce the form we showed on Saturday and continue to get the ball down and play, we will be able to come through this bad run,” he said.
Recent signing Matt Dudley scored both goals against the leaders and was unlucky not to register a hat-trick. He was awarded Kendal’s man of the match.
“We know what he brings to the team with his energy and scoring ability and he is going to be an important player in the final run-in,” said Clark.
With tonight’s game called off Kendal are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Longridge Town who are 18th in the table.
