
A Kendal man has been charged thanks to swift action from a Shop Watch scheme.
Ervin Zouka, 50, of High Cragg Close, Kendal has been charged with attempted theft and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The incident happened yesterday at a premises on Stricklandgate, Kendal. Within minutes of a situation being reported yesterday, officers were on scene and quickly made the arrest.
Various businesses and organisations in Kendal are signed up to the Shop Watch scheme – a network of local businesses that come together to tackle the risks associated with business crime.
These outlets are all linked through a radio system which is monitored by the South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team.
During a follow up search of Zouka’s home address, further suspected stolen items were located and seized.
He is due to appear before South Cumbria Magistrates Court in relation to the offences
