Barrow Raiders have the chance to look at a trialist in this afternoon’s Challenge Cup tie with Oldham.
Head coach Paul Crarey said: “We have the option of playing a trialist from London who is a friend of Ramon’s looking for an opportunity as we are down on troops.
“We might give him to time to settle but will make a call early in the morning.”
The Raiders won all their three pre-season friendlies and followed up with victories in the 1895 Cup against Workington Town and Whitehaven.
Crarey added: “It’s going to be a big test for us because of the personnel we have missing.
“But it’s a challenge we will relish and test the depth of our squad. Interesting that it shows the measure of Oldham’s recruitment when the experts are tipping a League One club to beat a Championship side.
“We are the mud kings, however. We train and play on it and although it will be a slog we are at home with a great crowd behind us. We have to be on it from minute one to the 80th to give ourselves a chance.”
Brett Carter and Shane Toal both return to the fold. Max Clarke misses out under concussion protocols, captain Jarrad Stack begins a two-match ban and Roly Seward also makes way.
It’s a 12.30pm kick-off and has been selected for live BBC coverage. The third round clash will be streamed live on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport online from 12.20pm.
Crarey will select from: Luke Broadbent, Greg Burke, Brett Carter, Matt Costello, Luke Cresswell, Charlie Emslie, James Greenwood, Adam Jackson, Ryan Johnston, Harvey Makin, Finn McMillan, Mike Ogunwole, Ryan Shaw, Ramon Silva, Aaron Smith, Connor Terrill, Shane Toal, Brad Walker, Tom Wilkinson, Josh Wood, Trialist.
