Skincare and cosmetics retailer The Body Shop has fallen into administration.
The firm, which has stores in Carlisle, Kendal and Caledonia Park, is at risk of shop closures and job losses – although it is not yet known if Cumbria’s stores will be affected.
FRP Advisory have today been appointed as the retailer’s administrators and said in a statement that the business is considering all options to find a way forward.
The administrators added that The Body Shop has faced an extended period of financial challenges under past owners combined with a difficult trading environment for the wider retail sector.
Stores are expected to continue trading as normal for now and creditors and employees will be informed of next steps in due course.
The firm’s The Body Shop at Home scheme is also set to close down this month.
