After a look at the boys of Cockermouth and Whitehaven learning the ropes last week it was the turn of the girls this time.

Girls from various clubs across the county converged on Cockermouth for an Under-12s Love Rugby festival when Straun Hutchinson from the RFU was there to help organise.

Over 50 girls from clubs across Cumbria attended with Keswick, Egremont, Tri-County Tigers, Penrith and Workington joined hosts Cockermouth.

This was the third festival this season and was great to see girls meeting up with friends they had made in the previous ones.

The first hour saw a warm up by Struan Hutchinson, an RFU development officer, before they were split up and went into different skill sessions, taken by Nicola Rowson, Richard Metcalf, Cumbria RFU development officer, and Struan.

Lots of learning, developing and laughing were involved before the girls were then split into four teams and played three games.

The girls showed great maturity playing with different players from different clubs, showing excellent communication skills.

The girls also put into action the training they had completed earlier.

All finished off with food and chatting in the club house and the next festival is on March 10 at Egremont.

Vince Brand was there to take shots of what was going on before and during the festival.
