Barrow are back in the League Two play-off places as they beat Gillingham 2-0 at Holker Street.
The Bluebirds had lost three games in a row and they had seen their last two games against Bradford City and Crawley called off due to waterlogged pitches.
So it was important they returned to winning ways against one of their promotion rivals which took them to sixth in the table.
Barrow certainly missed some opportunities in the first half as Cole Stockton, Emile Acquah, Kian Spence and Elliot Newby all had opportunities but none of them tested Gillingham keeper Glenn Morris.
Five minutes before half-time, however, all that changed when James Chester volleyed home a flick-on by George Ray after he reached a good ball into the box from Robbie Gotts.
In the second-half Spence was put in on goal by Dean Campbell and he forced Morris into a good low save while Emile Acquah and Stockton combined well before the deadline signing fired wide.
It was Acquah who provided Barrow with their extra cushion in the 55th minute when he scored his first League goal for nearly five months, tricking his way past two defenders before thumping a shot home from 20 yards.
Home keeper Paul Farman had not been seriously tested but did well to punch away a Shadrach Ogie header in time added on.
