Workington Town legend Ike Southward has been honoured each year since his death, with the memorial trophy game with Whitehaven held in his honour.
The trophy was presented to Town captain Matty Henson by Ike’s sons David and Mark to the delight of the home fans.
Later it was Mark and David’s turn to be on the receiving end as the club presented them with Ike’s heritage number 93.
Last year the family travelled to Oldham where they received their father’s heritage number from his services with the Roughyeds.
Twice the most expensive player in rugby league the Maryport-born flier played 371 games for Town and a further 52 for Oldham.
In that time he collected 328 tries – 274 of them for Town – and kicked 305 goals for Workington.
He also played six games for Whitehaven and was capped 13 times for Great Britain and represented Cumberland 14 times.
