Barrow battled to a good away point at Walsall last night from a 1-1 draw.
It kept the Bluebirds in the play-offs at sixth with the hosts still narrowly outside in eighth and challenging strongly.
Rollin Menayese had only been recalled from National League side Aldershot earlier in the day and he had put the Saddler’s in front on 38 minutes.
A corner from Taylor Allen was forced home at the far post by Menayese – a set-piece goal that Barrow boss Pete Wild wasn’t happy with.
But he was happier about his side drawing level early in the second-half from the penalty spot.
On 53 minutes Allen passed back to Menayese in the home box and he clearly wasn’t expecting it. In the confusion that followed he brought down Emile Acquah
Before then Walsall shouldd have doubled their lead when Mo Faal missed a great opportunity when former Bluebird Josh Gordons dispossessed James Chester on halfway and set-up Faal.
Barrow were also close to scoring before their equaliser as Kian Spence hit the base of the post from a half-cleared corner.
Both sides had opportunities to win it. Barrow substitute Sam Foley’s deep corner saw Rory Feely get on the end of it but he headed against the far post.
Then right at the death Walsall went close. Douglas James-Taylor had a close-range effort pushed wide and from the corner a hectic scramble in the Barrow box just wouldn’t fall for them as the visitors produced timely blocks.
