Penrith’s tough run of fixtures started in the worst possible manner – a 5-1 home defeat to third-in-the-table West Auckland.
They have to go to West Auckland on Tuesday night and then on Saturday travel to League leaders Bishop Auckland.
Chairman Billy Williams said: “They are third in the table for a reason and were a good side. I’m afraid we have gone off the boil recently after a very good sequence of results.
“We had a couple missing but West Auckland were far superior and had it won at half-time, leading 4-0.
“We will be hoping for a better show on Tuesday at their place but it’s going to be tough, and then of course we go to Bishops next Saturday – not the run of fixtures you look for.”
Goals from Benjamin Dale (7), Oscar Fletcher (23, 31) and Nathan Greenwood (43) had put West Auckland well in control by half-time and Joshua Scott made it 5-0 after 65 minutes.
Luke Hunter, Penrith’s top scorer, pulled one back for the Bonnyblues after 71 minutes.
