A former secretary of the Workington and District Sunday League, Barry Nicholson, has died aged 75.
Barry, a former policeman from Whitehaven, played locally and then took up refereeing and for a time was secretary of the Workington League.
One of his successors as League secretary, Ron Caffrey has announced his death and said: “He was involved in local football as a player, referee and was on many league committees.
“His funeral is on Tuesday, April 16 at 2pm at Distington Hall Crematorium. Family flowers only by request but donations, if desired, to Blood Bikes Cumbria.”
