
Just three games went ahead last night in the first of the mid-week games scheduled by the West Cumberland Sunday League.
In a Premier Division game Bluebell were 10-0 winners at home to Thornhill.
Carl Denver helped himself to four and there was a double strike from Greg Quayle. The other goals came from Macauley Sharp, Aiden Smith, Valter Fernandes and Arran Carter (pen).
A League Cup tier one tie saw Parkside beat Lowca 5-1 as there were goals for the in-form Ben McCarron (2), Josh Charlton, Reece Bewley and Ryan Gray. Oliver Todd replied for Lowca.
It was the last game before the biggest fixture in Parkside’s history on Sunday, the semi-final of the County Cup.
McCarron scored two very good goals to give Parkside a 2-0 lead at the break and although making six changes at the break went on to score three more.
Pick of the lot was a classy Bewley finish while Todd’s goal came near the end by way of consolation for Lowca.
Darren Little was man of the match as Parkside hope to carry this form into their crunch game on Sunday at home to the Jovial Sailor from Carlisle.
The third game, in League Cup tier three was a nine-goal thriller in which King’s Arms won 5-4 at The Sun.
Sam Wordsworth (2), Coady Scott (2) and Dawson Webster supplied the goals to win the game with Jamie Pattinson (3) and Owen Fearon responding for The Sun.
There is a game scheduled for tonight, which is a Tier Three League Cup – Royal Oak v Seaton.
Sunday’s local programme is dominated by the two County Sunday Cup semi-finals when it’s west against the east.
Parkside, who knocked-out long-time holders Inter Pirelli in the quarter-final, are at home to Jovial Sailor from Carlisle.
Northside have to travel to Carlisle to take on Scotby.
