People are asked to choose the new design for Maryport’s Shiver Me Timbers playpark.
The ageing playpark will be replaced, thanks to funding from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund, and people are being asked to decide if it should have a pirate or ocean wildlife theme.
The tender to create the new area has been won by play equipment specialists Kompan and its experts were asked to create two alternatives for the public to choose from.
Both designs will incorporate a splash park, something which ranked highly in Cumberland Council’s last consultation in Maryport, along with slides, swings, a zipwire and more.
To vote, visit https://consult.cumberland.gov.uk/communications-and-marketing/shiver-me-timbers-play-park/, vote in person at Maryport Town Hall, Senhouse Street, during office hours, or pick up a voting form from Maryport News in Senhouse Street or the Lake District Coast Aquarium on the harbourside.
Voting continues until 5pm on Monday April 29.
Leader of Cumberland Council Mark Fryer said: “You told us you wanted more activities for children and young people in Maryport and this is just the first step in the Council delivering that.
“I am really looking forward to seeing the new play equipment and the splash park in place. Whichever design you choose, it is going to look brilliant. I hope locals and visitors of all ages ‘get on board’ with this new maritime-themed project!”
