The West Cumbrian community has pulled together to raised over £7,000 for the girlfriend of a popular doorman who has died suddenly.

Andrew McKain, 28, who was head doorman at the Junction in Workington and also worked for Whitehaven Rugby League Club, died on April 7.

His girlfriend Chloe Aitchison is pregnant with the couple’s first baby.

Friend Kirsty Murray set up a JustGiving fundraising page for Chloe, her two sons and the new baby.

Kirsty said: “Workington and Whitehaven lost the best doorman and one of the kindest men you will ever have met.

“Andrew lived with the love of his life Chloe who adored the two beautiful boys who he loved so much and was expecting his first baby.

“I’m trying to raise funds to take the pressure off Chole having to worry about work and getting the last of the baby things at this awful time so they can grieve and heal so if anyone could spare just a £1 if would be greatly appreciated.”

So far, £7,130 has been raised.
