A man has been banned from shops in West Cumbria for two years.

The criminal behaviour order against Alan Kendrick, 47, of Peter Street, Whitehaven, was secured by Cumbria police’s Copeland Neighbourhood Policing Team.

It means he is not allowed to:

  • Enter any of the shops on the Whitehaven Shop Watch Scheme or any shops displaying the Whitehaven Shop Watch Scheme logo.
  • Enter any of the shops on the Workington Shop Watch Scheme or any shops displaying the Workington Shop Watch Scheme logo.

He was also sentenced to 24 weeks for:

  • Three offences of theft from Morrisons in Whitehaven between December 8 2023 and January 15 2024
  • One offence of theft from Home Bargains in Workington on March 26.
  • Three offences of theft from Tesco in Whitehaven between March 19 and March 20.

Cumbria police said: “We would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately. The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.

“Anyone who witnesses Alan Kendrick breaching the terms of his order should contact the police.”
