A Lake District chef has been recognised for his innovation in prestigious international awards.
Ryan Blackburn, of the Michelin starred Old Stamp House in Ambleside, won the category for his commitment to innovative cuisine, his respect for culinary heritage, and his ability to create and develop inspiring dishes for his guests in the awards organised by the International Restaurant Association JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs.
JRE’s international partners, members of the press, and representatives from gastronomy organisations alongside 400 JRE chefs and sommeliers, representing over 390 restaurants and 160 hotels from 16 countries – holding over 180 Michelin stars between them – gathered at the two-day celebratory event in Paris.
Ryan said: ”I’m over the moon that The Old Stamp House has been recognised by JRE in what is their 50th anniversary year with the Innovation Award for 2024.
“The whole team aims to ensure that they deliver a truly memorable experience for every single guest who comes through the door and this award is testament to that hard work and professionalism.
‘’This year’s JRE Congress was without doubt much more than just an event; it was a total celebration of the unifying power of food and drink, honouring both innovation and tradition and it was a huge honour to participate in such a momentous occasion.’’
