Jake Maizen (Ben Challis)

Whitehaven’s hat-trick star Jake Maizen will miss Sunday’s home game with Wakefield Trinity.

Maizen, who grabbed three tries in Haven’s draw at Widnes last Sunday, is unavailable for the clash against the League leaders.

Centre Will Evans, whose interception sparked one of the tries for Maizen, is also missing through injury. It was Evans, rather than Maizen who was included in Rugby League World’s Championship team of the week, along with Haven half-back Lachlan Hanneghan.

Head coach Jonty Gorley has named just 18 for the game, which will be a test as Wakefield head the table with eight wins from their eight Championship games.

Wakefield Trinity have made three changes to their 21-man squad ahead of their game at The Ortus Rec.

They still remain undefeated in the Betfred Championship as they sit top of the league table and three points ahead of their closest challengers, Widnes following last weeks 46-22 win over Swinton Lions.

The last game between the two sides was back in 1998 with Wakefield winning 15-2 at the Recreation Ground.

Wakefield coach, Daryl Powell is able to welcome back Mason Lino to the squad following his ankle injury that he picked up in the 1895 Cup Semi-Final win over Bradford.

Youngsters Harvey Smith and Noah Booth return to the squad with Liam Hood, Toby Boothroyd and Jack Croft all dropping out.

Making a return to Whitehaven will be popular former winger, Australian Lachlan Walmsley, who is the top try scorer in the Championship.

The Haven squad is: Ross Ainley, Brett Bailey, Jake Carter, Lucas Castle, Rio Corkill, Jamie Doran, Oscar Doran, Edene Gebbie, Guy Graham, Lachlan Hanneghan, Dan Hindmarch, Ryan King, Owen McCarron, James Newton, Joey Romeo, Perry Singleton, Curtis Teare, Huw Worthington.

Wakefield squad: Max Jowitt, Jermaine McGillvary, Oliver Pratt, Iain Thornley, Lachlan Walmsley, Mason Lino, Josh Bowden, Renouf Atoni, Matty Ashurst, Jay Pitts, Liam Kay, Caleb Uele, Mathieu Cozza, Luke Bain,  Ky Rodwell, Thomas Doyle, Romain Franco, Myles Lawford, Harvey Smith, Noah Booth, Derrell Olpherts.
