Tesco will open a new store in Carlisle city centre.
The supermarket chain said it had agreed a lease for part of the House of Fraser store on English Street and planned to open a Tesco Express.
House of Fraser closed last month and Tesco previously had a store on Victoria Viaduct, which closed in October.
