A new Channel 5 series will explore the Lake District and Cumbria’s coast.
The first episode will be broadcast on Wednesday, July 17, at 8pm.
It features, among others, a member of Wigton Motor Club. The episode follows Chris Spencer taking his car to the club’s Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show at Dalemain Mansion, near Penrith.
Chris endures some minor mechanical mishaps in the lead-up to the show but comes out a winner among the 800 cars there.
Shed One Distillery is also featured. The Ulverston-based distillery hope to create a fizz with a new gin at the county’s biggest agricultural event, The Westmorland County Show.
Filmed across summer 2023, the series celebrates old traditions and welcomes new life, with unique access to historic castles and ancient gardens, as well as a range of characters from steamboat operators to wild swimmers, local potters to gin distillers, a lobster fishing couple to divers uncovering history from the bed of Windermere.
It is produced by Air TV and the production company said: “It’s home to England’s most dramatic and celebrated national park, but there’s far more to Cumbria than just the Lakes.
“With sandy beaches, sleepy villages and fascinating industrial heritage, the Cumbrian coast is an undiscovered world of amazing landscapes and fascinating people.
“Inland, England’s tallest mountains and deepest lakes are the backdrop to a stunning world where adventure tourism, sleepy villages and innovative local businesses thrive.
“This series unlocks the secret getaways often tucked behind a mountain or hidden deep beside a remote lake.
“We meet the Cumbrians preserving centuries-old practices and delivering unique experiences, all in one of Britain’s most stunning counties.”
