Workington may have dropped like a stone in the Cumbria League’s Premier Division but they continue to soar in the T20 competition.
They romped to a big win at Cleator last night by 92 runs to make it three wins out of three games in the west group.
Put in to bat Workington belted their way to 181-2 in their 20 overs with Jake Daniel (79) and Australian Jack White (57no) figuring in a stand of 134 for the second wicket.
Daniel scored his runs off 57 balls and he hit 10 fours and two sixes while White faced 44 deliveries for his unbeaten half century.
Cleator fielded a very young side and they were bowled out for 89 in 18.4 overs with skipper Doug Hughes scoring more than half of the runs with 47 off 37 deliveries.
Regan Jackson took 4-7 for Workington while Asdam Chambers had 3-3.

In the North group Wigton suffered their first defeat when they lost heavily at Carlisle under the floodlights.
Zephania Arinaitwe is making quite a name for himself in his first season in the Cumbria League. He opened and hammered 50 off 22 deliveries which was almost made up of boundaries – seven fours and three sixes.
Carlisle didn’t hang about and there were runs right through the order from sub pro Promod Maduwantha (40 off 33), Alex Raybould (39 off 28), Marc Brown (25 off 16) and Ben Davidson (25 off 10) so that they reached 195-6 in their 20 overs.
Wigton simply never got going and lost half the side for 36 before Finn Manihera and Mark Hodgson both scored 14 and were able to get Wigton up to 80 all out in 19.2 overs.

Six bowlers were used by Carlisle – four of them took two wickets each awhile the other two had one each. Nico Watt bowled two maiden overs and took two wickets while Maduwantha had 2-1 from his two overs.
Cockermouth were put into bat by Keswick at Fitz Park and were soon in trouble losing professional Shrikant Mundhe off the second ball of the innings.
Skipper Matt Sempill continued his good run of form, hitting 50 of 46 deliveries out the rest of the top order failed and it needed 21 from Connor Steadman at eight to give the innings some late substance.
They were eventually restricted to 115-8 with all five Keswick bowlers taking at least one wicket with pro Risith Upamal (2-13) and Glen Weightman (2-22) the best of them.

Ben Sharp (40) and Will Atkinson (39) were the leading batsmen for Keswick as they reached their target for the loss of six wickets off the first ball of the final over.
In the south group the big game was at Millom where the home side lost by five wickets to Furness after being put in to bat.
