From historic gardens and houses to the great outdoors, there are lots of ways to play at National Trust places this summer.

Immerse yourself in nature – discover bugs and birds with spotter sheets at Allan Bank, or take a foraging course at Acorn Bank and identify plants, flowers, fruit and mushrooms.

Nature trails at Acorn Bank and Fell Foot are a great way to explore, and imaginations can run wild with natural play at Sizergh’s visitor centre.

Inspired by archival footage from the family archive, enjoy lawn games, dressing up and creative play in the garden at Sizergh.

For a sporty summer, try your hand at sports day themed activities at Fell Foot. It’s also the ideal place to take your first paddle out on the lake, with all equipment available to hire and safety guidance provided by Stoked Watersports.

Join in a day of fun with balance bikes, volleyball, badminton and sack races with seaside views at Whitehaven coast, and enjoy outdoor games like badminton and hula hooping in the grounds at Wray.

If the weather is wet, there’s still lots of fun to be had – explore Townend and learn about the family who lived there for 400 years, get creative with craft activities at Allan Bank and Wordsworth House, or follow the scallop trail in the house at Sizergh.

At Wray, as part of the Other Everests exhibition, little climbers can traverse Mount Wray or play a 3D Everest game.

Admission prices may apply to non-NT members. Please check the website for more details: Family friendly places| Lake District | National Trust
