A Just Stop Oil protest in Kendal

A Cumbrian Just Stop Oil activist is due to appear in court after being arrested near Manchester Airport yesterday.

Margaret Reid, 53, of Low Fellside, Kendal, has been charged with intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance alongside four other activists.

These activists include Daniel Knorr, 22, of Leanorah Ward, Noah Crane, 19, of Birmingham and Indigo Rumbelow, 30, of Haringey.

The five have been remanded into custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today.

Greater Manchester Police’s head of specialist operations, Chief Superintendent Mark Dexter, said: “We are working closely with Manchester Airports Group, partners, and police colleagues from across the UK in an attempt to prevent disruptive activity and ensure it does not affect us here in Manchester.

“We maintain a constant presence at the airport, and you will see our officers across the site if you’re travelling here during the summer months.

“Our aim is to keep the airport running so that you can enjoy your well-earned holidays, so I ask that anyone who is travelling remains vigilant. If you see something that seems suspicious, report it to us so we can act.”
