By 2027 Workington Town want to be competing in the Championship with standards consistently no lower than mid-table.

It’s part of a pledge the club made early this season as to where it would like to be in three years’ time.

The other aims in a three-pronged pledge were to create a sustainable and rewarding charitable foundation to inspire and positively influence the community and create a clear and defined progression pathway for their staff and players.

In repeating the pledge, Town describe themselves as a sleeping giant and are looking for people to invest in the club and take it forward by awakening the giant.

On the club website the directors say: “Today Workington Town RLFC is now an inclusive and exciting place to be, impacting many people in the area and we would like to appeal to potential interested individuals, existing partners or potential groups to invest in the club and help fully awaken the sleeping giant of Workington Town RLFC!

“We are a proud, historic sports club at the heart of the community with a modern vision.

“A new future in a new shared stadium facility offers so many new opportunities that the area has needed for so long.”

They go on to highlight the other sporting teams that now call the Fibrus Stadium their home – Workington Town Ladies RLFC, Workington Town Women AFC and Workington Town Netball team.

The board say: “To build upon this exciting period Workington Town RLFC needs more support and help to create a further improved infrastructure that facilitates the growth and opportunities that are present as we move the whole organisation forward .

“We are appealing for people to talk with us and see how we can work together to maximise the opportunity that stands before us.”
