Solfest organisers are working hard to make sure the music festival continues despite the weather.

Now in its 20th year, big crowds have been at the event since Thursday, but organisers and crew have been battling high winds and heavy rain.

They have been forced to close the main stage this evening and main stage artists are performing instead in the bar stage.

They said: “The main stage is safe but unfortunately the front of house is at risk of failure and we cannot guarantee the safety of the in house engineers. We would like to thank Fluid Productions for all their help making this new plan work.

“I know it’s not what you want to hear, but we are keeping the festival going with enough tent space to house all customers and crew alike and I’m sure you would prefer to be indoors for the remainder of the festival.

“With all tents signed off and safe through out the day our tent master has been going around, more woodchip has been added to the entrance of the bar stage and an additional emergency exit has been planned and created back of house. The wind has been slowly dropping and we look forward to tonight’s programme.”

The Hive and the pixie walk way will be closed to the public tonight and people are urged not to access them.

The Melodrome will not be opening today.

Tarns Dub will remain open as planned, Palais De Phonix will remain open as planned, the Disco tent will remain open as planned. The market tent is now closed.

Organisers added: “We are sorry to say Bombskare can no longer make it due to these schedule changes, we promise to rebook them for 2025 on the main stage.”
