
A major search was launched for a missing person in West Cumbria this morning.
A helicopter swept the edge of Workington for the person, who was reported as missing in the early hours of today, Tuesday, September 3.
Workington RNLI was called at around 1.10am and launched its all-weather lifeboat Dorothy May White and inshore lifeboat John F Mortimer to search from Workington to Harrington.
The lifeboats’ volunteer crews searched until 3.30am, when they were stood down by Belfast Coastguard with nothing found.
Police issued a statement at 10.20am to say the man had been found, safe and well.
