The first Allonby farmers market in a new venue has been a sell-out success.
The village monthly market was forced to move to a new venue due to demand – and held its first event today at Blue Dial Farm’s Moo Hall.
The new venue meant it could host more traders and organisers said they were delighted by the response.
Stalls included Cumbrian Coastal Kitchen and other food producers and crafts including crochet.
They said they were busy all day and lots of traders sold out of products.
It was set up in 2019 by Janet McGreavy and the market used to be able to feature five local producers, but now the move means it can host 20 traders.
Janet said: “We are always really busy on market days and we thought we’d take the plunge and expand to Blue Dial Farm, home of the Moody Cow so we can offer stalls to more traders.
“We now have the space to make it a full-on farmers market and we have some of the most talented producers and creators in the county so we want to offer the chance for more local people to sell their wares.
“We’re already a bit of a destination for our customers so we thought now was the time to grow. It’s brilliant that Blue Dial Farm is supporting us in this way by offering Moo Hall.”
Organisers promise there will be more stalls at the October event.
Any food producer, artist or crafter interested in a stall is asked to email clarewalker83@gmail.com
Organisers are only booking one trader of each product.
