Holker Old Boys went top of the North West Counties Division One North with a 5-2 win at Steeton.

Previous leaders Nelson were beaten 2-1 at home by Ashton Athletic so the south Cumbrians now lead the way on goal difference from Atherton LR. Nelson are two points further back ion third place now.

But then there’s a six point gap to the chasing pack who are led by Droylsden, a club desperate to return to former glories.

At Steeton, the Old Boys had been gifted the lead through an own goal on eight minutes and that advantage was doubled on 26 minutes by Luke Ellis.

However, by half-time the Keighley side had  drawn level through Emerson Mitchell (33) and in the third minute of time added on, a penalty from Josh Debenham.

Two minutes into the second-half Holker were in front again through a Jason Walker penalty and three minutes later Tyler Spence made it 4-2.

A fifth goal came on 71 minutes from Luke Mitchell and Holker could travel home content in a job well done, and they were sitting top of the League.
