A Barrow man who broke into his ex-partner’s home, smashed a window and mirror and left her a letter, has been jailed.
Stephen Anderson, 40, of River Walk, was jailed for two-and-a-half at Preston Crown Court and was also given a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.
The court heard that on April 24, police received a call from Anderson’s ex-partner to say he had broken into her property earlier in the evening and smashed a window and mirror within the house.
He had also rummaged through her belongings and left her a hand-written letter despite having previous bail conditions not to contact her or enter her property.
Anderson was arrested on April 25.
CSI attended the scene and recovered footwear impressions matching the shoes seized from Anderson when he was arrested.
They also found Anderson’s fingerprints on the envelope of the letter.
Detective Constable Alex Brown, Barrow CID, said: “I am pleased with the sentencing handed out and hope it can provide the victim with some reassurance and peace of mind.
“Burglary offences will not be tolerated and those that engage in these activities will face a police investigation and prosecution.”
