
A man has been injured after his light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Carlisle Lake District Airport.
Emergency services were called to the airport, north of Carlisle, at around 7.40am today, Thursday October 10.
The small light aircraft had to carry out an emergency landing on land close to the runway shortly after take off.
The pilot was taken to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary with head and chest injuries. There were no other casualties.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is currently on the scene, alongside police and partner agencies, managing the incident.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been informed.
