A South Cumbrian women’s centre needs your help to hit a £20,000 target in a week.
Women’s Community Matters, based on Abbey Street, Barrow, aims to make a positive difference to the lives of women, young girls aged 11 and above and young men aged 11-19 in the Barrow area. It wants to creating a strong resource for women and young people in crisis and those who are vulnerable and at risk.
It is taking part in the Women and Girls Match Fund and donations made to Women’s Community Matters through its Big Give campaign page only will be doubled.
Rebecca Robson, senior officer at Women’s Community Matters said, “This year we’re looking to raise a total of £20,000, in order to access the £10,000 we have in the matching pot, we need to raise £10,000 in online donations.
“We hope everyone will give generously this year to help us reach our target and enable us to carry on the work we all feel so passionately about.
“We are so very proud and lucky to have the support of our community and hope you can help us once again in this push to ensure we can keep providing the best service possible for women experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse. Through this campaign your donation will be doubled so women and girls can dream freely.”
Any money we can raise through the Big Give process will be used to employ workers for additional hours to support domestic abuse victims/survivors. The organisation said £20,000 would provide one domestic abuse worker for 20 hours a week for a year.
The campaign closes at noon on Thursday, October 17 and people can donate here.
