A 1-1 draw against bogey team Harrogate Town was a big improvement for Carlisle United on last week’s shocker at Wimbledon.
It was enough to get them off the bottom of League Two but without a win in five games they stay in the drop zone.
The Blues topped the stats with 70-30 possession; 23-4 shots; 9-2 on target; blocked shots 5-0.
But they could only manage the one goal, from a former Harrogate player Luke Armstrong as he cancelled out the visitors’ opener.
Harrogate had taken the lead against the run of play when Matty Daly got on the end of a fine in-swinging cross from Matty Foulds on 39 minutes.
But five minutes later Armstrong scored the equaliser netting the rebound after his first effort was saved by James Belshaw.
Carlisle had been closest before the goal rush, with Harrison Biggins curling a free kick against the crossbar inside ten minutes.
Carlisle continued to see more of the ball in the second-half and were close when Dominic Sadi shot just wide of the target.
Biggins probably had the best chance to win it for Carlisle but a low shot was blocked and Harrogate got the ball to safety.
