Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service celebrated the skill and dedication of its workforce at its annual awards ceremony.

Six prestigious awards were presented at Kendal Rugby Club on Friday.

Rick Ogden, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service’s chief fire officer, said: “This is the best day of the year for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, where we get to celebrate the outstanding work carried out by the team each and every day.

“I am incredibly proud of our service, and the awards are our chance to take a moment to pat everyone on the back and say thank you for everything they do.”

David Allen, Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, said: “It’s important to celebrate the positive work of an organisation – especially those who risk their lives to keep others safe.

“Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is successful because of their dedicated and passionate employees so I am pleased that I got to celebrate them at their awards.

“Well done to everyone that received an award – they were all very well deserved.”
