10p swims for children this half-term

More 10p swimming sessions have been announced for youngsters in Cumbria.

Westmorland and Furness Council’s leisure centres will offer the 10p sessions over half-term at its pools in Appleby, Barrow, Dalton-in-Furness, Kendal, Penrith and Ulverston.

Barrow, Kendal, Penrith and Ulverston leisure centres will allocate two hours a day for 10p swims from Monday October 28 to Friday November 1. Appleby Leisure Centre will allocate an hour and Dalton Leisure Centre will allocate 3 hours. 

Over the weekend of Saturday November 2 and 3, 10p swims will be available at Kendal, Penrith and Ulverston leisure centres for two hours per day; and at Appleby Leisure Centre for an hour per day.

The scheme has received funding from the council’s three Locality Boards for Eden, Furness and South Lakeland. 

Bookings for Appleby, Kendal, Penrith and Ulverston can be made on the Better UK app under Swim For All sessions or payment can be taken at reception.

To book a slot at Dalton call 01229 481942. For bookings at Barrow call 01229 871146.

  • Appleby Leisure Centre: Monday to Saturday: 2pm-3pm. Sunday: 1pm-2pm. 
  • Barrow Park Leisure Centre: Monday to Friday: 11am-noon & 1pm- 2pm.
  • Dalton Leisure Centre: Monday to Friday: 1pm-4pm.
  • Kendal Leisure Centre: Monday to Friday: 1pm-3pm; Saturday: noon-2pm; Sunday: 11am-1pm. 
  • Penrith Leisure Centre: Monday & Tuesday: noon-2pm; Wednesday & Thursday: 10am-noon; Friday: 12.30pm-2.30pm; Saturday & Sunday: noon-2pm.
  • Ulverston Leisure Centre: Monday to Friday: 12.30pm-2.30pm; Saturday: 3pm-5pm; Sunday: 1pm-3pm.

Cumberland Council announced its 10p swim sessions for youngsters earlier this week.

They are:

  • Cockermouth Leisure Centre: 1pm-1.50pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre, Whitehaven: 1pm-1.50pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Noon-12.50pm on Saturday October 26 and Saturday November 2. 10am-10.50am on Sunday October 27 and Sunday November 3.
  • The Sands Centre, Carlisle: 10am-10.50am Monday to Friday.
  • Wigton Baths: 3pm to 4pm Saturday October 26 (World Swim Day).
  • Workington Leisure Centre: 10am-10.50am, Monday and Wednesday plus 10am-10.50am and 2pm-2.50pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
