A photo competition has been launched for young people in Carlisle.

Carlisle Youth Zone is launching the competition in celebration of Youth Work Week, supported by Carlisle Business Supplies.

The competition, themed Your View, invites young people aged seven to 17, or up to 25 if they have additional needs, across Carlisle to capture and share their unique perspectives through the art of photography. The competition is open to members and non-members.

The competition theme is designed to encourage young photographers to capture an image that reflects what they see or believe in.

Carlisle Youth Zone said: “Whether it’s the view from your window or something you feel connected to, your walk to school, or even your own reflection—whatever speaks to you, take a photo and submit, it’s that easy!”

The theme encourages creativity, self-reflection, and community connection, aligning with Youth Work Week’s message, The Art of Youth Work, which celebrates the powerful role youth work plays in nurturing young people’s creativity and self-expression.

How to enter

Entries are open until November 10. The process is simple – snap a photo that fits the theme and submit it through Carlisle Youth Zone’s website for a chance to win exciting prizes.

  • 1st prize: Instax Camera
  • 2nd prize: High street vouchers

The winners will be announced shortly after the submission deadline.

Carlisle Youth Zone’s CEO Caroline Taylor-Beswick said: “At Carlisle Youth Zone, we know the transformative power of youth work and the opportunities it provides young people to explore and express themselves.

“I’m delighted to see us partner with Carlisle Business Supplies to run this competition during Youth Work Week, providing a chance for young people to share their unique perspectives and for us to see a glimpse of the world through their eyes.”

The photography competition offers a platform for young people to share their voices, bringing together creativity, community, and the powerful impact of youth work.
