Whitehaven have announced the signing of forward Jake Pearce from National Conference League side Wath Brow Hornets.

Pearce is another England Community Lions squad member having captained his country at Under-23s level and was jointly voted supporters player of the year for Wath Brown at the end of the current campaign.

He had made 16 appearances for the Hornets senior side scoring one try in the NCL this last season.

Haven head coach Anthony Murray said: “Jake’s signing is brilliant news for the club and I’m delighted he has chosen to start his professional career with us at Whitehaven.

“Jake has been an outstanding player in the community game, representing his country at under-19s and 23s, and he also captained his country, so he will bring those leadership qualities to the team.

“I’m sure Jake is going to have a big impact at the club both on and off the field and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
