Westmorland & Furness Council said its teams were working hard to clear the water and keep drivers safe but driving conditions are challenging.
People are asked to avoid the routes and the general area.
Earlier, our colleagues at Cumbria Road Watch said they were getting reports that roads are starting to flood.
