Kendal Town completed a double over Penrith when they won last night’s Cumbrian derby at Parkside Road 4-2.
But Jimmy Marshall’s men had to come from behind to earn the win after Penrith scored first and the home side only drew level on the stroke of half-time.
But two quality strikes in the second-half pushed Kendal out to a 3-1 lead and that changed the game significantly.
Marshall admitted that Niall Cowperthwaite’s 45th minute equaliser didn’t change his half-time team talk but it altered the manner in which he gave it.
Luke Hunter had given Penrith a deserved lead in the 23rd minute but when he scored his second in the 83rd minute Kendal had netted four.
Josh Winder (56), Tom Kilifin (73) and James Craig (78) were all on the mark for Kendal who are now off to Dublin for the weekend – players and staff.
For Penrith it will be a case od staying at home and waiting to see how many will have recovered from knocks to play next week-end.
