A Kendal takeaway wants to stay open until 3am every day.

Domino’s, on New Road, has applied to Westmorland & Furness Council for the extension of its hours.

According to its website, it currently opens from 11am to 11pm.

Two letters of objection have been sent to the council about the plans.

One objector said: “If Domino’s is open at midnight until 3am every day, there will be people heading down there to gather after other places have closed.

“This will lead to a huge increase in noise and low-level disorder, as occurs when people get together late at night.”

Domino’s said the takeaway would have signs displayed asking customers to leave the premises quietly. The branch also has 24-hour CCTV in operation both internally and externally that covers the full area.

It added it already operates other late-night Domino’s branches and continually monitor the situation with customers.

The response adds: “If there are any issues on public nuisance, we are prepared to engage the service of a SIA licensed door supervisor should they been required.”

Members of the licensing sub-committee will discuss the application on December 16 at Kendal Town Hall.
