Ricardo Ferreira

A man who died in a collision last month has been named.

Ricardo Ferreira, 34, lived in Carlisle but was originally from Portugal.

The collision happened on the A6 between the Wreay turn off and the Golden Fleece on Tuesday November 26 at around 3.15pm.

The collision involved a HGV and Ford Fiesta.

In a tribute, Ricardo’s family said: “Ricardo was 34 years old, but in those previous years, he lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and creativity.

“Throughout his life, Ricky’s accomplishments were many, but his greatest contributions came from his heart.

“During the COVID lockdown, he made visors on his 3D printer to help protect the brave healthcare workers of our community.

“He raised fund, donated his own money, and invested countless hours to ensure that those on the frontlines had the protection they needed. A testament to his selflessness and unwavering commitment to helping others.

“Ricky was more than a brother, more than a son, more than an uncle, more than a father, and more than a friend to many. He was a constant source of joy and support.

“His presence was always marked by a smile and a whistle – a cheerful melody that announced his arrival. He had a special way of calling out to us – each nickname a token of his affection.

“As an uncle, he was also a best friend, always ready to join in adventures or offer comforting words.

“His daughter was the light of his life, and the love he had for her was pure and true. Ricky’s kindness, his caring nature, his selflessness, and his boundless creativity touched the lives of hundreds.

“He was hardworking and intelligent, yet it was his loving spirit that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

“Though we feel his absence deeply, his spirit lives on in our hearts, and the stories we share, and in the memories we cherish.

“A quote we believe resonates with Ricky’s life: ‘The best way to find yourself it to lose yourself in the service of others.’ Ricky found himself in the service to others, and in doing so, he touched the lives of so many.

“May we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.”

Anyone with any information, who witnessed the collision, or saw the vehicles before the incident, are asked to contact police.

They should contact Inspector Jack Stabler or PC Katie Robinson on 101 quoting log 119 of 26 November 2024.
