A Cumbrian businessman has been appointed as an ambassador for a county hospice.
Ian Milburn, director of Cumbria Renewables and founder of IM Events, has been named as a charity ambassador for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.
Ian’s connection with Hospice at Home is professional and personal. Earlier this year, his family received vital support from the charity during his late father’s illness.
Although his father ultimately died at Eden Valley Hospice, Ian acknowledged the crucial role hospice at home played in offering the option of care at home, ensuring his family felt supported during such a difficult time.
He said: “I am honoured to be named a charity ambassador for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland. Their work in the community is invaluable, providing care and comfort to families when they need it most.
“This charity means a great deal to me personally, and I’m committed to raising awareness and encouraging others to support their vital services.”
Ian has gifted the charity 20 free places for the upcoming Run Carlisle event in March, organised by IM Running Events Ltd. He is also dedicating major fundraising efforts next year to support Hospice at Home, Eden Valley Hospice, and Pancreatic Cancer Action in memory of his father.
Debbie McKenna, CEO of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ian as our new charity ambassador.
“His enthusiasm, extensive network, and deep understanding of the importance of our services will be invaluable as we strive to reach more people and secure vital funding. Ian’s personal connection to Hospice at Home adds a heartfelt layer to his advocacy, and we are excited about the impact he will have.”
