A dog was abandoned by poachers who had disobeyed the A66 road closure order.
Eden Police’s neighbourhood policing team was called to Stainmore after it was reported that there were men poaching in the area.
PC Adams and PC Forster said: “We have been to the scene and rescued this lovely dog which has been abandoned by the poachers in freezing conditions.
“We have the details of the vehicle; we will be pursuing prosecutions against the poachers.
“We have named the dog Bobby (police pun intended) and he will be collected by the dog warden. Hopefully Bobby will find a new home soon.”
