Biker dies in West Cumbrian crash

A motorcyclist has died after being involved in a collision near Workington.

Cumbria police is investigating the incident at the junction of Branthwaite Road and the A596, near Workington Golf Club yesterday, Thursday January 30.

The collision happened at around 4.15pm and involved a Volvo car and a motorbike.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended but the 60-year-old West Cumbrian man died at the scene.

The driver of the Volvo was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

The road was reopened shortly after 3am today.

Cumbria police said they were keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it, and has yet to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with dashcam which could assist officers investigating the collision.
