Workington Reds have announced a new signing.

Midfielder Bruce Strachan has joined the side following a spell with Irish side Finn Harps FC.

The 18-year-old began his development at Rangers before progressing through Ayr United’s youth set-up, where he made a name for himself as the U18s’ top scorer before earning a move to the League of Ireland First Division side.

Reds manager Mark Fell said: “Bruce has trained with us for a few weeks and really impressed.

“He’s another great young talent to add to the squad and one I’m looking forward to working with.”

Bruce said: “I knew that Workington AFC was a great club to play for when they showed an interest in me, so I was really keen to sign.

“It’s been really good so far, all the staff and players have been very welcoming to the club. I’m looking forward to ending the season strong and getting the club as high up the league as possible.”

Strachan will be available for selection in today’s NPL tie against Blyth Spartans.
