Boy bailed after racially aggravated assault in Carlisle

A boy has been arrested and bailed after a racially aggravated attack in Carlisle, which resulted in one of the victims being taken to hospital.

There will now be an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the community, Cumbria police said.

The incident happened at Lismore Place on Wednesday March 26, at around 3pm.

The assault involved two boys of secondary school age from Carlisle.

One of the boys sustained head injuries and received treatment at the city’s Cumberland Infirmary. He has since been released from hospital. 

During the incident, a third boy, also from Carlisle, was assaulted but was not injured.

A boy has been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and assault actual bodily harm he remains in police custody.

Police said enquiries were ongoing by its officers to establish the circumstances of the incident.

Officers said they were providing support to the victims and their family.
