114 new affordable homes could be built in the Carlisle area if the plans are approved next week.
Social landlord Home Group wants to create the estate on land north of Burgh Road.
It wants to build a mixture of semi-detached and terraced houses plus bungalows – 42 two-bedroom properties, 66 three-bedroom and six with four-plus bedrooms.
A previous application for 83 homes on the site was approved in 2018. The new application said although the number of homes was higher – achieved by swapping out larger detached plots for semi-detached properties – it was the same density overall on the 2.74-hectare site.
Members of Cumberland Council’s planning committee are due to meet next Wednesday, April 9, to consider the application.
It has been recommended for approval, with conditions including that the developer makes £6,600 contribution to fund a traffic regulation order to deal with the relocation of the speed limit.
