Students from Kendal College visited a Penrith farm for vital training as part of their T-levels.
The second year agricultural students visited Mount Pleasant Farm to learn about the dairy parlour.
The farm is owned by Leo Group. Over the past 40 years, Leo Group has acquired 17 farms developing their own pedigree and commercial herds with more than 4,500 acres of land, of which more than 400 acres is woodland.
Danny Sawrij, Leo Group CEO said: “It is crucial that young people have access to working farms where they can have hands-on experience.
“We are delighted to be able to offer this support to Kendal College and look forward to working closely with them moving forward.”
Samantha Riseborough, lecturer in agricultural apprenticeships & T-levels, said “The second year agriculture T-level students have been lucky enough to use the parlour at Mount Pleasant farm, to learn about setting up a dairy parlour ready for use.
“This included checking the filters, setting up the bulk tank and assessing the units and clusters for correct pulsation. The parlour was also used to formally assess their learning and competence in this skill. For anyone working in the dairy industry, this is a very important skill that is imperative to milk production.”
Sarah Jackson, lecturer in agricultural apprenticeships, said: “The students have all expressed their gratitude for having the support from Leo Group, the use of the farm and facilities has been a fundamental part in the assessment process for the students.”
