A man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a car was spotted being driven dangerously on a South Cumbrian road.

Cumbria police said they were called about the car on the A591 at Natland, south of Kendal, yesterday, Thursday April 3.

Officers stopped the driver at around 1.30pm.

The 37-year-old, from Morecambe, tested positive for drugs using a wipe and was arrested. He was released under investigation to allow time for blood test results.

Cumbria police is currently running a month-long operation – Operation Spotlight – tackling the Fatal Four on the roads – speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
