Police are appealing for information about a hate crime in South Cumbria earlier this year as they follow new lines of enquiry.

The incident happened at the bus stop on Market Square in Kirkby Lonsdale on February 21 at around 7.40pm.

A man approached occupants of a car parked in the bus stop and began shouting abuse at the driver.

A hate-related comment was made towards the driver.

During this incident, a second man approached the occupants of the car and assaulted a 16-year-old boy, causing no injury.

Both men then left on a bus.

The first man is described as white, tall, approximately in his 60s, with a large build, with stubble and grey hair. He was wearing a dark coat, potentially green in colour and wearing jeans.

The second man is described as white, around 5ft 10in and in his late 50s, he had grey hair, short on the sides and no facial hair, wearing jeans and wellies.

Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 223 of the 21 February 2025 or call 101.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
