Thirteen bottle of laughing gas were recovered by police near a playground in South Cumbria.
South Lakes police said the nitrous oxide bottles were found in Kendal by a PCSO last night, Sunday May 11.
They added: “Young people have been known to use this stuff as a drug for a while now and in 2024 the Government made the possession of the gas a criminal offence.
“Symptoms include light headedness headaches and fainting.
“Studies show that heavy use can cause a B12 deficiency, damage to the nerves in the spinal cord, muscle stiffness, weak limbs and issues with bowel and bladder.
“Retailers found to be recklessly selling nitrous oxide on, can face prosecution and a prison sentence.”
