Police were called after a group of youths in Cleator Moor were causing a danger to themselves and others.
Copeland Police said the small group of youngsters were suspected to have taken drugs.
Copeland Police added: “Constables arrived on scene and the youths ran away. One was located and proceeded to swear and spit at one of the constables.
“This youth was arrested. This behaviour will not be tolerated and constables will use all policies and procedures available to deal with this type of behaviour.
“Parents are reminded to check where your children are and ensure they don’t engage in this behaviour.”
